Kia's Focus: EV Cars

The people at Stockton Kia, located at 3077 E Hammer Lane, Stockton CA, 95212, are proud to announce something big for green drivers from Kia! The decision has been made by Kia to focus all their eco-friendly car production on electric vehicles, leaving the hybrids for parent company Hyundai.

A team driving a Kia Optima Hybrid completed an incredible historic cross country trip, and set the Guinness World Record for "Lowest fuel consumption driving through all 48 contiguous U.S. states in a gasoline hybrid car." After there recent statement to produce EV vehicles, this looks like it may be one of the final hybrids from the company.

"Hyundai intends to focus on hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles and plug-in hybrids, as this seems to be the direction the car market is heading in, especially after 2030," according to Yang Woong-chul, the group's VP, as he stated details of this plan during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.1

Kia will manufacture the company's first ever mass-produced high-speed electric vehicle.  By the end of 2011, these vehicles are scheduled to hit the Asian market. Korea's 1st electric vehicle, named 'BlueOn' and developed by Kia's research institute in 2010, will also be revealed by Kia to the public by the end of this 2011.
