Seltos vs. The Competition
How Does the 2027 Kia Seltos Compare to the Competition?
You want an SUV but you also want something smaller, more efficient, and comfortable for all you driving need. It sounds like you need a Kia.
When you visit Kia of Stockton, you'll find new Kia Seltos models available for Modesto and Manteca-area drivers. The Kia Seltos is far from the only option to choose from, though. When you're shopping for a subcompact model, you'll also find new models like the Hyundai Kona and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Let's take a look at what all three have to offer and why the Kia Seltos is the right choice for you.
Performance
The Kia Seltos hits the road with one of two responsive powertrains. These include a standard 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder powertrain and a 190-horsepower 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. New models also offer the option for front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive drivetrain, as well as a responsive 8-speed automatic transmission.
In terms of performance, the Hyundai Kona offers nearly identical powertrain options to the Kia Seltos. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport offers a slightly more powerful standard powertrain: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 148 horsepower. That said, it caps out much lower than the Kia Seltos, with an upgraded 168-horsepower four-cylinder powertrain.
Fuel Economy
All three of these subcompact models offer rock-solid fuel economy figures. The Kia Seltos delivers an impressive 28 miles per gallon on city streets with 33 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Hyundai Kona delivers a similar level of fuel economy, while the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport tops out at 23 miles per gallon on city streets and 29 miles per gallon on the highway.
Features & Technology
The Kia Seltos hits the road with a standard 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and ChatGPT-powered voice assistance technology. New models also offer a standard 6-speaer stereo and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
With the Hyundai Kona, you'll enjoy a similar spread of connectivity features, minus the AI-assistance. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport only starts with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and, while it does offer wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, its sound system only includes a standard 4-speaker stereo and an optional 6-speaker upgrade.
Safety
All three of these subcompact SUVs deliver top-notch safety suites. The Kia Seltos impresses, in particular, with standard assistance features including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, front and rear parking sensors, and more. New models can also be upgraded with options like adaptive cruise control and more.
No matter where you plan to go, the Kia Seltos and its competitors provide the tools to ensure you make it there safely.
Why is the Kia Seltos the Right SUV for You?
While the Hyundai Kona offers a package that's close to the Kia Seltos in many ways, the Seltos offers a few premium touches that help it stand out as the superior subcompact SUV. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport can be found with a lower monthly payment, but its feature suite leaves a lot to be desired when compared to models like the Kia Seltos.
If you're looking for a top-tier subcompact model that mixes a modern sense of style with value-driven features and efficient performance, the Kia Seltos is the new model for you.
